In a heartbreaking incident, a two-year-old died Thursday morning, leading to the arrest of his own uncle, according to police in North Las Vegas.
Leo’oolo Tevaseu, 21, is facing serious charges of open murder and child abuse resulting in substantial bodily harm, police revealed following an extensive investigation.
The tragic death occurred in an apartment at the 3400 block of Mercury St., near Civic Center Drive, around 11 a.m.

Uncle arrested for murder of 2-year-old nephew
According to initial reports, authorities were alerted to a child showing no vital signs, according to 3 News.
Medical personnel responded promptly and transported the little boy to the University Medical Center Hospital in an attempt to save his life. Sadly, their efforts were in vain, and the child was declared deceased shortly afterward.
The investigation by the North Las Vegas Police Department identified the infant’s uncle as the main suspect in this tragic event.
As a result, Leo’oolo Tevaseu was arrested and held at the North Las Vegas Community Correctional Center.
